Master Survey and Mailing ListsBy Will Bontrager Master Survey version 2.6 (Jul7 17, 2006) can automatically send subscription email to list servers. Well, it has been able to do send a notice email to multiple destinations since serveral versions ago by providing the email addresses at the control panel's survey form generation page. But, until now, the From address of the outgoing email did not have the survey taker's email address. (Most list servers will get the subscription address from the From: email header line.) Two things need to be done (in addition to providing the list server's email address at the form generation page), providing a place for form users to type their email addresses and specifying the From: header line information in the Master Survey control panel. A place for email address on the survey formAdd an email field and optionally a name field to your survey after generating it with the control panel. As an example, let's suppose you add these lines to your generated survey form: Specifying the From: header line information in the control panelIn the Master Survey control panel, Program Configuration page, you'll see "What email address shall be in the "From:" header line?" This field may contain form field names between double square brackets, which placeholders will be replaced with the information the user provided when the survey is submitted. For our example, let's suppose the user provides email address "me@example.com" and "Willie Wonka" as the name. So, if you put into the control panel form field, the outgoing email will have this as the From: header line: And, if you put into the control panel form field, the outgoing email will have this as the From: header line: July 17, 2006 Please note: Articles on this website are presented "as is".
