One-Click Survey

One-click surveys are excellent for email — newsletters, autoresponder messages, even one-to-one email.

Although these types of surveys are also easier and faster for web site users (being one click instead of clicking for a survey form, making a selection, and then clicking a submit button), this blog post will focus primarily on using a one-click survey in email.

One-click surveys work in both plain text and HTML emails.

The instructions assume you're using Survey Lite, although the method may also work with other survey software.

Here are the steps:

1. In the HTML source code of the survey form, change method="POST" to method="GET"

2. Select one answer at a time, submit it, and make a note of the URL in the browser's address bar.

3. Change the method back to method="POST"

4. Publish the URLs (noted in the browser's address bar in step 2) as one-click survey links:

• For plain text email, publish the URL for each possibile answer. Example:

  If your answer is "Only sometimes," click this URL: http://example.com/cgi-bin/MasterSurvey.cgi?s1=code&s_101=3

• For HTML email, publish a link with the applicable URL for each possibile answer. Example:

  <a href="http://example.com/cgi-bin/MasterSurvey.cgi?s1=code&s_101=3"> Only sometimes </a>
