Forms in Email and Master Form V4By Will Bontrager This post is an answer to a question we receive over and over can Master Form V4 process forms submitted from an email? (If you receive similar questions from your clients or site users, feel free to refer them to this blog post.) Master Form V4 can handle form submissions from email just as well as from web pages. But there is a caveat: The email reader the person is using must be able to handle the form in the email. AOL's email reader, for example, has some form compatibility problems according to feedback I've received. If I remember correctly, a list box selection wasn't sent to the form handling software when the form was submitted. (Note that this is third-party information and might not be correct. I did not myself observe the AOL email or the test.) Some email readers won't handle HTML at all, let alone forms.
I believe Outlook Express, as an example of one, handles forms okay. If the people who will receive the email all (or most) use Outlook Express or other forms compatible email readers, then it may be a viable way to go. But still those who use incompatible email readers will not be able to properly use the forms. In other words, Master Form V4 can handle forms submitted from an email just as well as it can handle forms submitted from a web page. But the email reader must be able to properly render and submit the form in the first place. Different email readers are more or less forms compatible. A person should test a variety of email readers to see which ones are compatible with the form being anticipated, then decide if the results warrant using the form in email.
