Master Members Only Upgrade
By

Master Members Only can now password protect any individual PHP web pages on your domain. Protect as many as you want, wherever they might be located.
Individuals who logged into your Master Members Only web site can access these pages. Others can not.
The latest version is 3.5. It is a free upgrade.
If you wish to upgrade to version 3.5 and your previous version 3.# installation has been modified, do not despair. It is possible to modify your current installation instead of redoing all your previous modifications.
NOTE: You only need to do this if your previous version has been modified and you do not want to do the modifications all over again.
For normal upgrades, simply upload the newly generated version over the top of the older version. Then you're good to go.
To modify your current installation for the "password protect individual pages" functionality, three things need to be done.
-
Modify main.cgi
Make a backup copy of file main.cgi and then modify the original. Use a plain text word processor like NotePad or TextWrangler.
At about line 64, you'll see this line:
Immediately above that line, insert these 16 lines:
Upload the modified main.cgi to the location where Master Members Only is installed. You'll be overwriting the existing main.cgi (but you have a backup of the unmodified version on your desktop computer, right?)
-
Modify signup.cgi
Make a backup copy of file signup.cgi and then modify the original. Use a plain text word processor like NotePad or TextWrangler.
At about line 143, you'll see this line:
Immediately above that line, insert an exact copy of the 16 lines you inserted into file main.cgi
Upload the modified signup.cgi to the location where Master Members Only is installed. You'll be overwriting the existing signup.cgi (but you have a backup of the unmodified version on your desktop computer, right?)
-
Install okay.cgi
When you generate the latest version of Master Members only, file okay.cgi is in the ZIP file. Upload okay.cgi to the location where Master Members Only is installed. Give okay.cgi 755 permissions.
You can now follow the "How To Password Protect Individual Web Pages" instructions in the manual.
