Real Time Update of External JavaScript With PHP
As you undoubtedly are aware, JavaScript can be imported into a web page from an external file.
It is likely that sooner or later there will be an occasion where the JavaScript needs information that only PHP can give it. For example, the persons IP address isn't available to JavaScript but is something PHP can provide.
With the correct file name extension, this code in the external JavaScript file can be used to assign an IP address to a JavaScript variable.
var IP = "<?php echo($_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']) ?>";
But that will work only if the external JavaScript file name has a .php
file name extension.
So give the file a .php
file name extension even though it is a file containing JavaScript. Then import it the normal way.
<script src="http://example.com/ExternalJSfile.php"></script>
Replace http://example.com/ExternalJSfile.php
with the URL to your external JavaScript file and you are good to go.
