It's a Mess When You Lose Your FiltersBy Will Bontrager Yesterday, Mari and I searched our email folders for any affiliate requests we might have missed. Last month, our Master Series software affiliates were offered affiliate status for the Bontrager CGI software with the same affiliate ID, when the system is ready. The system is ready, at least far enough to add new affiliates. And we were using our respective email search functions to find any requests we might have missed. Well, my email program crashed during the search. I got it recovered, and it crashed again. There was a later version available, so I downloaded and installed that. Then nothing worked. I couldn't even launch the email program. It was time to make backups of all the email folders on my hard drive. Once that was done, I uninstalled everything and then reinstalled the latest version. Now it worked. But all filtering rules were lost. Zilch. So all email is coming into my inbox as opposed to conveniently being filtered into various folders depending on subject or destination address or who it is from. I didn't really mind getting 500-900 emails every day when they were being properly filtered. Now, I even have to retrain the spam filter. Poor me :-( Rate this one high so I don't feel so bad :) May 15, 2006 Please note: Articles on this website are presented "as is".
