Day-of-Week With PHP
The PHP date() function can be used to obtain the current day of the week. Use the "w" parameter. Example code:
$DayOfWeekNumber = date("w");
The date("w") function returns the day of week number. The number 0 is for Sunday. The number 6 is for Saturday.
A use for this is for certain things to happen depending on the current day of the week. The following code is a simple example that will publish the name of the current day.
$DayOfWeekNumber = date("w");
switch($DayOfWeekNumber)
{
case 0 : echo("Today is Sunday."); break;
case 1 : echo("Today is Monday."); break;
case 2 : echo("Today is Tuesday."); break;
case 3 : echo("Today is Wednesday."); break;
case 4 : echo("Today is Thursday."); break;
case 5 : echo("Today is Friday."); break;
case 6 : echo("Today is Saturday.");
}
The result of the above on this page:
Today is Wednesday.
Replace echo(…) with the code that should run that day.
