PayPal Link instead of "Buy Now" Button
PayPal's "buy now" button is good for some things. For other
things, it's a bit awkward.
To protect your email address from harvesters, the "buy now"
button must be encrypted. Which is okay if you never need to
change things.
To change price or email address or anything else, you have
to go back to PayPal and generate another encrypted button.
Then, replace the old button on your web pages with the new
button.
Let me show you how to bypass all that hassle. And still:
-
Protect your email address.
-
Protect your price.
-
Protect your "thank you" URL.
-
Quickly (and, yes, easily) change any information --
price, address, shipping, even item ID and item name.
-
Have buy links for many products and prices, all
serviced by one software installation.
Buy links can be text, image, auto-redirecting dropdown, or
even, if you prefer, form buttons.
It's done with the "PayPal Linking Script", now available at WebSite's Secret.
It may seem somewhat counter-purpose, the PayPal Linking
Script is supposed to eliminate the need to do this, but the
setup requires you to go to PayPal and generate one more
"buy now" button. The PayPal Linking Script will use the
HTML source code of that button as the base upon which to
create PayPal acceptable buy links on-the-fly.
The buy link is used to specify such things as amount of
purchase, item name, and item number. What you specify in
the buy link overrides the corresponding values of the
button code you pasted into the script.
When a customer clicks on the buy link, they are taken to a
PayPal payment page with the amount and the item name
pre-filled in.
That's what makes this system so easy to use. When
information changes, you only change your buy link.
The PayPal Linking Script is designed to automatically
protect your email address from spammer's harvesting robots.
Your email address is nowhere in the buy link.
If you have a "thank you" page with download links, then you
might also want to protect your prices and maybe also the
"thank you" page URLs. Instructions on how to do that are
in the script itself.
If you sell only one item and no immediate download link is
provided, then you might not need that protection. There is
little chance of anyone cheating because they won't get the
product until after you get paid and allow them have it.
However, if you do provide immediate download URLs, it would
be prudent use the feature to protect yourself from scammers
who would create a fake buy link to give themselves a
discount or a freebie.
The PayPal Linking Script:
-
Eliminates the need to generate a new "buy now"
button whenever your selling information changes.
-
Protects your PayPal business email address.
-
Can protect your selling amounts and "thank you"
page URLs.
One installation of the PayPal Linking Script can accept
your buy links from any domain.
The "buy now" button you generate for pasting into the
PayPal Linking Script may be the last "buy now" button you
will ever make.
