Subject: Any way to edit person's name on a post? In the administrator 'edit' mode, won't allow me to edit the name of the person who posted the message. Is there any other way to edit the person's name? Also is there a way to make the date display next to each post... Thanks! --- Karen :D |

In response to: Any way to edit person's name on a post? Maybe the documentation that came with your software would mention the procedure. If it doesn't, post the name of your software and anything else that might help us help you. |

In response to: Any way to edit person's name on a post? It's the MasterBoard.cgi program I downloaded from your site.... I got the program loaded and it's working, I copied and pasted all the old entries from my previous board/program/website host....but I accidentally misspelled a name and now I can't find a way to change it... Thanks again for your time! --- (Karen) |

In response to: Any way to edit person's name on a post? Two files need to be modified. Both are in the MBdata subdirectory. Both need to be down- and up-loaded as ASCII/plain text files (not binary) and edited with a plain text word processor like NotePad or BBEdit. The first is a file named "MBposts". You'll find a line in that file pertaining to the thread in question. Change the name of the poster as appropriate. You'll notice a 10-digit number at the beginning of the relevant line in file MBposts. That is the file name of the second file that needs to be edited. You'll find the misspelled name in that file also. Change the name as appropriate. |
