Subject: Banning Words in MasterFormV4 Hi, Again, Will, I just read the Possibilities ezine. I then read the article on banning words from form messages to prevent spammers sending unwanted solicitations to the webmaster. In the article, you say the MasterFormV4 Control Panel allows you to input the banned words. I didn't remember seeing that before, so I opened te MF4 Control Panel. No such settings seen! I have what I believe is the latest update of MasterFormV4 (the one you had us download a few weeks ago with anti-hijacking features). At lest I downloaded it, but whether it overwrote the old file on my PC as I believed I cannot say for sure. Where is the ban words feature on the control panel and what is the exact words of the button? I have gotten a few messages like this and want to use this feature. How do I trobuleshoot this? When updating a script, should I rename the old form folder and download the new version, so that the unzipping process creates a new folder with the old name? I might try that. Warmly, Don :) |

In response to: Banning Words in MasterFormV4 Don, the latest version of Master Form V4 is 4.0d When you load the control panel, you'll see the version you have printed near the top center of the page, just below the program name. I'm pretty sure you have an earlier version. With the latest version, there's a "Banned Words/Phrases" link on the first page of the control panel. You then just type in what you want to ban. When updating the script, unzip the ZIP file, then upload the three .cgi/.pm files to your server in the same place the previous version is at. It's okay to overwrite the files of the old version. |

In response to: Banning Words in MasterFormV4 Unless it's a serious security upgrade, improvements are usually just announced in the Possibilities ezine. |
