Identification:
Type something that identifies this info record for you. This will be used
on other pages of the control panel where one or more info records need to be selected
(when generating a web page form, for example).
|
|
Information Source:
Use only one or the other of
A. External Info Source
or
B. Internal Info Source
in this section.
Use A. External Info Source when the email address (and optionally, the name)
of the form user is to be sent to an autoresponder's "add" email address or a list server's "subscribe"
email address.
Use B. Internal Info Source when Information Responder itself will be sending information
directly to the form user.
A. External Info Source
Type the email address where the autoresponder/list server receives
add/subscribe email.
In which of these email hader lines do you want the user's email address (and name, if provided)
to be?
In the "From:" header line.
In the "Reply-To:" header line.
In both the "From:" and "Reply-To:" header lines.
B. Internal Info Source
You may optionally specify
what the "From:" and/or "Reply-To:" header lines will contain
when Information Responder sends information
directly to the form user.
(Type [[email]]
to insert the form user's email address, or
[[name]]
to insert the form user's name.)
|
|
Bounce Address:
Optionally, specify the outgoing email "Return-Path:" email address, the
address bounced email should be delivered to. (It adds
the -f
flag to the sendmail/qmail location.)
If you want the form user's email address as the Return-Path address,
which some autoresponders and list servers require,
type [[email]]
If this optional field is used, it will over-ride the optional specification
in the "Configuration" section of the control panel.
|
|
Email Subject Line:
Optionally, specify what the "Subject:" header line of the outgoing email shall have.
(Type [[email]]
to insert the form user's email address, or
[[name]]
to insert the form user's name.)
|
|
The Email Body:
Below, type whatever you want in the body of the email being sent out.
Some things to consider:
-
If what you type here begins with <HTML> (not
case sensitive), then the email will be sent as HTML email. Otherwise, the email will be
sent as plain text.
-
You may use the
[[email]]
placeholder to insert the form user's email address, and the
[[name]]
placeholder to insert the form user's name.
-
If you want to insert the contents of a file into the email, put this placeholder where the insert shall go:
[[INSERT ________]]
Replace the underline with either the server location or the URL of the file to be
inserted. Specifying the server location allows Information Responder to respond faster than when
the URL is specified. Here are two examples, one with server location specified and one
with URL:
[[INSERT /www/htdocs/file.txt]]
[[INSERT http://example.com/file.txt]]
-
If you want to attach a file to the email, put this placeholder somewhere within the externaladdy you're
specifying:
[[ATTACH ________]]
Replace the underline with either the server location or the URL of the file to be
attached. Specifying the server location allows Information Responder to respond faster than when
the URL is specified. Here are two examples, one with server location specified and one
with URL:
[[ATTACH /www/htdocs/image.jpg]]
[[ATTACH http://example.com/image.jpg]]
Here, type whatever you want in the body of the email being sent out.
