User's Manual

Front Page

Here, specify the directory containing the file(s) you wish to view. Then, click the "View Directory" button.

Only the directory where Secure View & Remove is installed and its subdirectories can be accessed.

To specify the directory where Secure View & Remove is installed, type only the / (slash) character. For subdirectories, type the subdirectory names. For subdirectories in subdirectories, separate the subdirectory names with the / (slash) character. Example: subdirone/subdirtwo

If you can not open the directories you think you should be able to, Secure View & Remove might not be installed in an appropriate location. Only the directory where Secure View & Remove is installed and its subdirectories can be accessed.

If you need to move Secure View & Remove, installation instructions are in the SecureView.cgi file.

Directory Contents

When the "View Directory" button is clicked, the next page will contain a listing of the directory contents. (If no files are available for viewing in that directory, a statement to that effect will be displayed.)

On the Directory Contents page is a list of files available for viewing. Note that Secure View & Remove does not make a judgement call about what is or is not viewable by humans. As such, it will list image and other files as being available.

Files are listed in two categories, normally available files and files previously marked for deletion. Buttons with the file names can be clicked for specific actions:

  • Normally available files can be (1) viewed or (2) both viewed and marked for deletion.

  • Files previously marked for deletion can be (1) viewed, (2) restored to normal status, or (3) permanently deleted.

When restored or permanently deleted, the Directory Contents page is updated.

File View

The content of the file being viewed is in a textarea box — unless the file is over 32k in size, in which case it is displayed by itself in the browser window.

A handy button is available to select all the content in the textarea box, ready for copying.

And a button is available to redisplay the Directory Content page.
