How is MySQL Pronounced?
While writing the
Why Would I Want MySQL?
article for Possibilities ezine, there was a question about how to pronounce MySQL.
The official way to pronounce "MySQL" is "My Ess Que Ell" (according to this page at mysql.com).
It is also prounced "my sequel." In fact, the pronunciation is so prevalent, and contentious, that some authors of articles and forum posts flatly insist it is to be pronounced the right way, which is not "my sequel." I've noticed forum posters who get a bit emotional about it. Maybe "a bit animated" would be a better description.
If you pronounce it "my sequel," you won't be alone. And, you'll be open to attempted correction by someone with different ideas.
At our house it is, simply, "my squill."
